The 175-acre campus is regularly ranked as one of the most beautiful college campuses in America. The largest campus is found in Stockton in the heart of the Central Valley. Pacific has three unique campuses across northern California. They foster a culture that recognizes and rewards the talents and commitment of our people, and cultivate an environment of innovation, inclusiveness and respect. These values - excellence, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, integrity and accountability, respect and civility - provide a shared sense of purpose and identity. Our shared values are at the heart of who we are as Pacificans and represent what we do best. No matter the job, every employee at Pacific is part of contributing to the mission of California’s first university, which ranks in the Top 20 in the West and Top 100 in the U.S. I lived in Davis at the time, so on other days I would take the express bus from Davis to downtown, but "express" is a very relative term when it comes to bus systems.University of the Pacific is a mission-driven organization, focused on creating the next generation of leaders in a wide array of disciplines through student-centered teaching and research that blends learning in classrooms, laboratories and studios with real-world experiences partnering with organizations across northern California. Since I was a Sac State student I would park at Sac State (since I already had a parking permit I was paying for), then take the bus from Sac State into downtown, as students rode free on the bus system. Maybe county offices are better for this, I don't know. So they certainly aren't handing out spots to students. There were some state employees I worked with in my internship who had been waiting YEARS to get a spot in the building's parking garage. Honestly, the hardest part about student employment with the state is the parking. Based only on the two sentences in your post I'd say you have a good shot. I don't expect a lot of pre-existing skills for an entry level position, but I do expect a basic understanding of the job they are applying for (you would not believe how many objectives on resumes are for totally unrelated things - like you are applying to be a student assistant for data entry and write about how you hope to get a job for Hot Dog on a Stick), as well as a simple check for typos. The state of student resumes is absolutely dismal. It's no wonder I got the callback so quick. Now I work in a position where I interview and hire my own student assistants. I also had a separate internship, administered through UEI, that overlapped with my other student position. It was a great experience and I believe helped me get hired into my current job. were through UEI but I worked in the Dept. I submitted a resume, had an interview with the Department of Education that I thought was really easy, and I hadn't even made it back to my car before they called to offer me the job. When I was a student assistant about 7 years ago it was a fairly easy process. They list postings for jobs in lots of state agencies in the Sacramento region, and other areas of the state as well I believe. They are based at Sac State but you aren't required to be a Sac State student, you can actually be a student anywhere. I was a student assistant throughout grad school, through University Enterprises Inc.
